What are the benefits of a dental bridge?
- Boost your confidence with a full smile
- Prevent alignment issues in your remaining natural teeth
- A secure, fixed and long-lasting solution
- Can replace multiple missing teeth in combination with dental implants
What does the treatment involve?
We first make sure that the teeth that will support the bridge are healthy and strong. They are then prepared by removing a layer of enamel.
We take impressions or digital scans of the prepared teeth. These are sent to the dental laboratory. While your bridge is custom-made, we may provide you with a temporary crown or bridge to protect the exposed teeth.
When ready, we check your bridge, making sure it fits perfectly and making small adjustments if necessary. Your bridge is finally fixed in place with strong dental cement.

Types of bridges at Market Place Dental
Conventional bridges
A conventional bridge uses crowns placed over the teeth on one or both sides of the gap as support. These teeth, known as abutment teeth, need to be prepared and often require some enamel to be removed. The replacement tooth, also called a pontic, is attached to bridge the gap and complete your smile.
Resin-retained bridge
A resin-retained bridge consists of a porcelain tooth bonded to a metal or ceramic wing. This wing is glued to the neighbouring tooth to enable the replacement tooth to fill the gap in your smile. Often, little or no drilling or preparation of your natural teeth is required for this type of bridge.

Frequently asked questions
You need to clean your bridge every day, to prevent problems such as bad breath and gum disease. You also have to clean under the false tooth every day. Your dentist or hygienist will show you how to use special floss and/or interdental brushes, as a normal toothbrush cannot reach.
